How can I be forgiven by Allah for breaking an oath on the Quran?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
9-10 years back I gave oath on the Holy Quran. I was never willing to give oath on Holy Quran but my friend pressed me to give oath for some particular things that he wanted. Then I gave him oaths on the Holy Quran by placing my hand on the Holy Quran and in the end I think that I said that but it is not confirm because I do not remember now (Agar main ne in halafon ko pura na kia to Allah ka qahar nazil ho ga mujh pe). I do not remember now correctly but I think that for sometime I fulfilled the oaths and then I forgot those oaths. Now I do not remember that on how many points I gave oath at that time but I guess that there were 5-7 points on which I gave oath in one go at that time on the Holy Quran. And today I also do not remember those points clearly. And I am also not in contact with that friend because I live now in different city. Please tell me that what should I do so that Allah forgives me for this sin of broking the oaths given on the Holy Quran?

Answer

(Fatwa: 36/D=7/K=1433)

(1) Kaffarah is not wajib in case you do not remember taking oath and doing against it with surety, rather it is mere doubt. You should do taubah and istighfar. There is no harm if you pay kaffarah as precautionary. The detail of the kaffarah is given in below lines.
(2) And if you are sure that you take oath and went against it then it is wajib to pay its kaffarah. The kaffarah of one oath is to feed ten poor two times full stomach or to give 1.633 Kg wheat or its price to ten poor. And if you cannot bear it then it is enough to keep three days fast for kaffarah. And if you take oath of different things then you will have to give kaffarah of as much oath as you broke.
