Answer
(Fatwa: 1391/1306=d/1429)
Women are not allowed to get their hair cut.
قال فى الدر المختار: قطعت شعر راسها اثمت ولعنت. فى الأشباه: احكام الانثى قوله وتمنع من حلق راسها اى حلق شعر راسها الى قوله والظاهر ان المراد بحلق راسها ازالتہ سواء كان بحلق او قص ۔۔۔۔ والمراد بعدم الجواز كراهة التحريم۔ وعن على قال: نهى رسول الله عليه وسلم ان تحلق المرأة راسها، رواه النسائي (مشكاة) قلت والحلق عام للقص ايضا (امداد الفتاوي 221:4)
The abovementioned traditions reveal that as it is unlawful to shave the hair it is unlawful to trim it as well.
(2) The appearance which is characteristic to any particular people, the Muslims are not allowed to adopt it. Likewise, women are prohibited to wear the clothes and hair which are generally worn by men. Hair for women are naturally a cause of beauty, it is prohibited to get them cut. Therefore it is wrong to think that Sikh girls do not get their hair cut, so the Muslim girls should be allowed to get their hair cut. Muslim girls are not allowed to cut their hair, therefore they should never do it, it is a cause of natural beauty for them. The angels in the skies recite this:
سبحان من زين الرجال باللحى وزين النساء بالذوائب
He is pure who beautified men with beard and women with locks of hair.
(3)You should never get your hair cut as such woman has been cursed (by the Hadith). Yes, if the hair is so long which hang below hips and look ugly, then the hair hanging below hips can be trimmed.
