What Is the Khulasa of the Sutra Masala?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Question:

What is the khulasa of the sutra masala

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The Sutrah is that which is used as a barrier before one praying for others to walk by.

The conditions of Sutrah are the following:

⦁ It should be one arm’s length
⦁ Be as thick as a finger
⦁ It should be placed and not vertical or horizontal (1)

The above requirements are needed for an object to be considered eligible to serve the purpose of a Sutrah. Otherwise, the item will not be of use and anyone walking past a musalli will be passing before their prayer.

Only Allah knows best
