Can I Go Inside a Church as a Muslim To Attend a Wedding of a Friend?

Answered by: Maulana Muhammad Asadullah Anwar Adam

Question:

Can I go inside a church as a Muslim to attend a wedding of a friend? Or is it haram?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Many un-Islamic practices take place at weddings held in a church. Along with this, ‘words of prayer’ and songs that incorporate statements of shirk take place there, which one will witness and be a part of when they go to the church for the ceremony. On account of these, it will not be permissible to attend the ceremony which will be held in the church.
