Is milad part of islam

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwa.org.au
Is ‘MILAAD’ part of islam?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Milad is not part of Islam as it is not mentioned in the Holy Quran, Ahadith, and the books of Fiqh. If ‘milad’ was part of Islam then the Sahaba (companions of the Prophet Sallallaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) the Tabi’een (the generation after the Sahaba) and the Tab’ Tab’ieen (the generation after the Tabi’een — the Prophet Sallallaahu Alaihi wa Sallam said that these three generations are the best generations of his nation) would have done ‘milad’, but nowhere is it recorded that they ever did ‘milad’.
