Eating while standing

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwa.org.au
I heard that fruits can be eaten while standing. In fact, it is a Sunnah? Is this correct? Jazakumullah Khayr.

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Although eating while standing is not prohibited, it is however preferable to sit and eat. The ruling on eating fruits and other types of food is the same. Hence, it is not correct to say that it is sunnah to eat fruits while standing up.

And Allah knows best.
