Question

Praying Salah with a gold ring for men, Salah valid?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The Prophet pbuh said: “Gold and silk have been made lawful for the women of my Ummah and prohibited for men.”[1]

It is Haram to wear other than a silver ring, the prophet pbuh has elaborated saying “Make it from silver that is less than one Mithqal.”[2] Mithqal refers to a silver ring that is equivalent to or less than 2.975 grams in weight.

In regard to your query, although wearing gold for men is impermissible, it does not have any effect on a person’s Salah. Therefore, the salah will be valid. However, one should abstain from an impermissible action to safeguard the success of the akhirah.
