Dear Sir,
We cannot perform namaz in zawal time but can we perform other religious activities, such as tilawat Quran or tasbeeh in zawal and makrooh timings?

Answer
Yes, you can. The hadith of the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalm only mention the prohibition of salah, and likewise, the scholars say that only salah is prohibited As mentioned in Al-Hidaya
لا تجوز الصلاة عند طلوع الشمس ولا عند قيامها في الظهيرة ولا عند غروبها
“ Salah is not permissible at sun rising time, nor at noon, nor at the time of sunset”[1]
