Is it Sunnah for women to go to the bathroom with their heads covered?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer

It was the practice of the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam that when he would enter the toilet he would cover his head. It was also the practice of his noble companions Radiyallahu Anhum.

Sayyidah Aishah Radiyallahu Anha narrates that when the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam entered the toilet he would cover his head. (Sunan Kubra Baihaqi p.96 v.1)

Sayyidah Aishah Radiyallahu Anha narrates that her father Sayyidna Abu Bakr Radiyallahu Anhu said: “Show respect in front of Allah, for I certainly cover my head when entering the toilet, this is due to the respect of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. (ibid)

Habib Bin Salih Radiyallahu Anhu said: “When the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam would go for the call of nature he would wear shoes and cover his head”. (ibid)

It is from the etiquettes of entering the toilet that one should not enter it bareheaded. (Beheshti Zewar p90 & Masaail Raf’at Kaasmi p.186 v.1)

Imam Ghazali mentions that a person should not enter the bathroom bareheaded or barefoot. (Ihya Uloom p187 v1)
