Question

Salaam,

Any reference to what time the Prophet (s.a.w) would go to Quba on Saturday?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful

Answer:

The prayer in Masjid Quba is based upon a hadith narrated in al-Saheehayn from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to come to Quba’ riding and walking.” According to another report: “and he would pray two rak’ahs there.” (narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also said, “Whoever purifies himself in his house then comes to the mosque of Quba’ and prays there, he will have a reward like that for ‘Umrah.”[1]

In another hadith the day is mentioned and by which means:

Ibn `Umar said, “The Prophet (PBUH) used to go to the Mosque of Quba every Saturday (sometimes) walking and (sometimes) riding.” `Abdullah (Ibn `Umar) used to do the same.[2]

There is no specification as to what time this was done.

Only Allah knows best
