What is your opinion of the ulama in Saudi Arabia…I have changed madhabs but I want to make sure I haven’t deviated

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I have changed madhabs but I want to make sure I haven?t deviated. Are there any duas to prevent such a thing. I followed hanafi but changed to hanbali what should I do as far as getting new information and istikhara? If I want to become an alim can I still study in a hanafi madrasa in south Africa most likely madrasa zakariyya? Would it be possible to study under hanafi alims and also learn more about my madhab as well. Where exactly is campers down? Has ibn qudamahs al mughni been translated into English?

Answer

Why did you change your Madhab? What criteria did you adopt in doing so? What are your qualifications in qualifying you to make such a big move?

The majority of the South African Ulama are Hanafi and the institutes teach all four Madhaahib but concentrate on the Hanafi Madhab. Camperdown is a name of a small town in KwaZulu-Natal provice. The Darul Uloom is situated in Camperdown. The Darul Ifta is part of the Darul Uloom.

We do not know if ibn Qudaama’s al-Mughniy is translated into English.
