An unreliable narration regarding the Masjids in the Hereafter

Question

Is this narration authentic?

“On the Day of Qiyamah, all the masajid of the world will be annexed and included into Jannah.  Jannah is pure and the masajid are places of purity, therefore they too will become part of Jannah.”

Answer

I have not come across these exact words in a Hadith. This is probably understood from the following Hadith recorded in Al Mu’jamul Awsat of Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah):

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “All of the earth/s will perish except the masjids, for they will join together [in Jannah/as witness in favour of those who would frequently visit].”

(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 4021. Refer: Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 3276)

However, the chain contains an extremely unreliable narrator. Many Muhaddithun have declared him a liar. Hence some Muhaddithun have declared the Hadith a fabrication.

The Hadith is therefore not suitable to quote.

(Refer: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 2 pg. 6, Tanzihush Shari’ah, vol. 2 pg. 79, Al Mudawi: 1402 and Al Mughir, pg. 138)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
