Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Question

Kindly provide the full text of the Hadith regarding the Bedouin who pulled Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) by his garment, leaving imprints on his neck.

Answer

Imam Bukhari, Muslim and others (rahimahumullah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 5809, and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1057)

Translation

Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) has narrated:

“I was walking with Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) whilst he was wearing a thick seamed Najrani garment. A Bedouin caught up to him and violently grabbed him by his garment. To such an extent, when I looked at the surface of Rasulullah’s (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) shoulder, the seam of the garment had left an impression due to how severely it was pulled. He then said: “O Muhammad! Order that I be given from the wealth of Allah Ta’ala which is by you!”

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) turned towards him, smiled and then instructed that he be given [some wealth].
