Buying and wearing shoes made of pig skin?

Q. There are shoes that are imported into South Africa from America, Canada, Australia, China and many other countries. Some of these imported shoes are manufactured using pigskin. Are Muslim allowed to wear these shoes that are manufactured with pig skin?


A. It not permissible to purchase, wear or use clothing and items that are made from a pig as a pig is considered to be impure. Therefore, it will not be permissible to purchase or wear shoes that are manufactured using pig skin. (Al Asl 1/202)
