Assalamu Alaikum,
Mufti, how does one dispose of Qur’anic ayahs, word, surah . I normally cut out the Arabic from postcards etc. because i know it will be thrown away and disregarded. I was told to fold it up and bury it. others say it can be burnt or thrown into the sea. What does the Shariah say regarding this.

As long as these can be kept, they should be kept and used or stored in a good place. However, when it becomes old and unusable and you want to dispose of it, you should wrap it in a cloth and bury it.
Scholars have mentioned that one should avoid burning these since it is against the respect shown to the Holy Quran. (Kitabul Fatawa, Vol. 1, Pg. 474, Zam Zam Publishers, Karachi 2007).
