How to redirect son from violent behavior, smoking, and school-influenced name change?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I live in Canada with my family with 2 sons and both are Hafiz-e-Quran. My elder son will turn 17 coming December. Since past couple of months his behaviour is not good with the parents especially with his mother and has grown violent meaning beating another schoolmate and also his younger brother. He has developed bad habits of smoking and never listens to anyone. We seek Allah’s help and guidance and also request you to let us know what should be done in this situation. My wife was thinking of changing his name because of his wild behaviour. We have noticed that these habits have started after going to the public school. Please advise on it to bring him to the right path.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

(Fatwa: 894/756/N=8/1439)

There are various types of children in a school; some children follow the habit of wicked children and adopt bad moral and become wicked like them. So should not worry much; rather both of you [parents] should pray for your child and keep on making him understand politely and with love.

Moreover, read Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim (بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم) seven times and blow on food and drinks and all your family members should eat that food and drink that water. In-shaAllah it will have good effect on your child.

Allah knows Best!
