Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

Before marriage brides apply mehndi on their hands. What is the concept ruling of this in the shariah, Also is there any basis in Islam for holding mehndi gatherings for ladies before their wedding?

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

It is generally permissible for a woman to apply mehndi on her hands.[1] However, there is no basis in Islam for holding mehndi ceremonies, it should be avoided. [2]
