Question:

Unfortunately I have to go to work on Eid day and I can’t get time off, the Eid salaah times within the area are all too late for me to attend. I will be a masaafir on the day, what do I do?

Answer

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

The majority of scholars agree that the minimum required distance for a person to be considered a Musaafir is 4 Burud which is equivalent to 16 Farsakh or 48 (Shariah Miles) or 88 Kilometres or 55 English miles. (Raddul Muhtar p.725 v.2)

Regarding your question, if you happen to be a traveller on Eid day then Eid Salah is not obligatory upon you. It will not be a sin for you to leave out the Eid Salah.  (Kitabul Fiqh p.548 v.1)
