Aslamoalaikum. I have a question from you regarding Zakat. When I get married my Wife’s parents didn’t give her Gold. My In Laws still holding her GOLD with them in their Locker. As they says to me that this is your AMANAT when you will go to Pakistan you will get it. So my Question is: is the Zak at for this GOLD comes on me or it comes to my in laws who will liable for this. Please clear my this point.
Answer:
The principle ruling is that if your wife has not been made the owner of the gold, then whoever the owner is i.e. in this case the parents would have to give Zakat. If your wife was made the owner of the gold she would then be liable to give Zakat. (Fatawa Mahmoodiyah p.126 v.11)
