Difference between Ijtihaad and Qiyaas

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: What’s the difference between Ijtihaad and Qiyaas?

Bismillaah

A: Ijtihaad is the work of an imaam who has the salaahiyat for ijtihaad, and qiyaas is to extend the analogy.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
