Wearing one’s ihraam before boarding a plane

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I will be flying from London for ummrah Insha Allah, but I don’t want to wear ihraam from London on the plane because we have to use the plane toilets and I dont think we will stay clean as the toilets are very small and dirty. If I go to Makkah and I wear my ihraam at Masjid-e-Ayesha with the intention of doing umrah the next day, is that permissible? Or do I have to wear ihram in the plane or from London? Please advise.

Bismillaah

A: You may put on your ihraam before boarding the plane, and make the niyyat at the time the announcement is made that you are about to cross the meeqaat.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
