Marrying a woman one loved in Jannah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I saw a video where a shaykh was saying that you may marry the person you loved in Jannah.

If that person was already married to someone else in dunya, can you still marry that person in Jannah?

Bismillaah

A: All animate objects are haraam in Islam. Hence, watching films of animate objects are also haraam. You should make sincere tawba to Allah Ta’ala and make a firm resolve that you will not repeat this sin in the future.

The Shaikh has erred in his ruling. If a woman was married to a man in this world and remained his wife, she will be his wife in Jannah as well. If she is going to be his wife in Jannah, how can she be another person’s wife?

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
