Eating prasad from a Hindu

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Recently one of my Hindu friends knocked at my room door in the hostel and gave me a slice of apple. He said it is Prasad so I took it and kept it one side in my room and I didn’t eat it… Did I commit a sin? One scholar told me that only eating meat is not allowed of Hindus… we can eat fruits or sweets. I am really confused.

Bismillaah

A: It is right for you not to eat it. You may bury it somewhere, and in future ask him not to give you such things.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
