The mines of taqwa

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

I have come across the following narration in the kitaab “Irshadul Muluk”. Please give me the reference for this and kindly confirm if the translation is correct:

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:

Everything has a mine. The mine of Taqwa is the hearts of the men of Ma’rifat (Allah’s recognition).

JazakAllah khayran.

Answer

Your translation is correct.

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu’anhuma) with a weak chain.

See: Al-Mu’jamul Kabir, hadith: 13185 & Majma’uz Zawaid, vol.10 Pg.268

This version can be quoted.

There is another version that is reported via Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu’anhu) which has been declared extremely weak.

(Talkhisul mawdu’at, hadith: 82, Faidul Qadir, hadith: 7320 & Tanzihush Shari’ah, vol.1 pg.175)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
