Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) saw celestial light at the Sidratul Muntaha

Is this narration authentic?

رفعت لي سدرة المنتهى فرأيت عندها نورا عظيما

Answer

This is part of a longer narration recorded by Imam Tirmidhi on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu). He has declared the Hadith authentic (hasanun sahih).

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3360)

See the first part of the Hadith here.

Translation

[During the Mi’raj, I was shown] the Sidratul Muntaha (the lote tree which marks the end of the seventh heaven) and I saw great celestial light there.

(See ‘Umdatul Qari, Hadith: 3207 and ‘Tuhfatul Ahwadhi, Hadith: 3360)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
