Sayyiduna ‘Abdur Rahman Ibn ‘Awf (radiyallahu’anhu) entry into Jannah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Is it true that Sayyiduna ‘Abdur Rahman Ibn ‘Awf (radiyallahu’anhu) will enter Jannah crawling?

I’ve heard that there is a Hadith to this effect.

Answer

Sayyiduna ‘Abdur Rahman Ibn ‘Awf (radiyallahu’anhu) is from the ‘Asharah Mubash-sharah’ – the ten Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) who were given the glad tidings of entry into Jannah in one Hadith.

A narration like the one in your question appears in Musnad of Imam Ahmad -vol.6 pg.115-

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) is of the opinion is that this is probably from those Hadiths [of which there are other examples] which Imam Ahmad (rahimahullah) had instructed to be removed from his book and for some reason it wasn’t removed. Or that it was removed but somehow found its way back?

Imam Ahmad (rahimahullah) himself has firmly dismissed this Hadith.

(Tadribur Rawi, vol.3 pg.58-59 with footnotes of Shaykh ‘Awwamah. Also see majma’uz Zawaid, Hadith: 14889 and Kashful Astar, Hadith: 2586-2587)

For the reasons discussed above, this Hadith should not be publicised.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
