Reciting Surah Kawthar enroute to Madinah Munawwarah

I have heard that one should recite Surah Kawthar 1000 times as a gift to Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) before reaching Madinah.

Is this authentic?

Answer

I haven’t seen this in any of the popular Hadith sources.

This seems to be based on experience of the pious elders.

Practices that are based upon experience are allowed as long as one does not consider them as being from the Hadith.
