Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) praising the king of Abysinnia

I read in a book that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said to the Muslims when they were being persecuted in Makkah Mukarramah:

“If you want you may go take refuge in Abyssinia , for there reigns a king, where nobody is oppressed under his rule. Go there until Allah opens up a way and makes it easy”.

What is the reference for this statement ?

Answer

This is part of a lengthy Hadith recorded by many Muhaddithun and Historians. Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has recorded the words in question on the authority of Sayyidah Ummu Salamah (radiyallahu ‘anha).

(As Sunanul Kubra, vol. 9 pg. 9. Also see Musnad Ahmad, vol. 1 pg. 201-203 and Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah, Hadith: 2260)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
