The difference between salat & salam upon Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Whats the difference between salat and salam on Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam)

Answer

When one takes the name of Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam), he is required to send salat & salam upon him.

(Surah Ahzab, verse: 56)

Salat is translated as: salutations, and salam as: peace.

Salat is generally sent with the words: ‘sallallahu’alayhi’

and salam is sent with the words: ‘wasallam’

The above is merely an example of the common forms of salat and salam.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
