Inaaya and Filza: Meaning and Viability as Names, Plus Unique Suggestions

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: The names Inaaya and Filza? Can you tell me about these, their meanings and whether they can be kept. Any other name you may want to suggest also that would be unique with a nice meaning?

Bismillaah

A: Inaayah refers to a blessing. Filza refers to a piece.

Don’t put your mind to unique names. Endeavour to see that the character and behaviour of your child is unique, outstanding and pleasing to Allah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
