Is it permissible to show face for identification purposes?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I have 2 questions

1. I cross the borders from U.S to Canada often vice versa and i do purdah and i wear a niqab, my question is that Is it permissible for me to show my face to the government officials for identification purposes?

2. I have friends that say i am only allowed to consume kocher products (which they think all kocher products are halal) and they say all other products that are non-kocher are haram is that true?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuhu

1. You are obligated by the laws and regulations of the government to expose your face when entering/departing your country. Therefore it will be permissible to expose your face based on Haajah (need and necessity).

2. Kosher is not necessarily halal. Exercise precaution. Kindly refer to the following link for more details: http://www.askimam.org/public/question_detail/19734
