Can Muslims work in banks, such as asset management and corporate banking. We all know that the banks (non-Islamic) are the centres of interest; so any job in a bank is likely to be haram. Also, the culture in a bank is very materialistic and secular and bank employees are always thinking about making money and surrounding themselves with material things. I would like to ask a question pertaining to talaq. My husband gave me three talaqs two years ago and we have not resided together since that time. He would now like to reconcile but the only option is for me to make nikah with another man and be intimate. What I would like to know is that if I do agree to do this, I would knowingly be entering into a nikah with another person just for the purpose of him giving me a talaq after we have been intimate for that night. Is this acceptable according to Islam? Because a part of me feels that Allah knows everything and that He will know that my intention for making the nikah is only to reconcile with my first husband. Is it acceptable according to the Shariah for me to reconcile with my first husband?

Alhamdulillah, I regularly browse through the online Q&A and use it as a source of obtaining information and guidance. My question relates to a previous answer about otoplasty surgery (click here to see) that was issued. Normally, some explanation is provided before the verdict is provided, but not in this case. The query in question related to the permissibility of otoplasty (a surgical procedure) for the purposes of rendering the ears to what would be perceived as “normal”. My question is posed as a lay-man and not meant to question the validity of the previous answer but to obtain an understanding of the rationale used in arriving at the answer. It could be viewed that the otoplasty is a “cosmetic surgical procedure” and one that changes the appearance of a person from that with which Allah has bestowed one. I understand the potential ridicule that one who is born with such a condition may endure and I sympathise with such persons. Can the ruling be extended to other features of a person that are not considered “normal” such as a nose or a chin?
