Must a Muslim Woman Cover Her Feet according to Shafi’i School?

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad

Question

Is it permissible for women to show their feet? For example, when wearing sandals in summer. How about when praying?

Answer

Thank you for your question.

No, it is not permissible for a woman to wear sandals and show her feet when she goes outside, nor during the prayer.

In the Shafi’i school, feet are considered part of her nakedness and must be covered.
