Question

I have several issues regarding men’s marital rights. Sex slaves, polygyny, and divorce in Islam generally bother me. Please advise.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

Wa alaykum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Dear questioner,

Thank you for your important questions.

You have asked many questions, and I have attempted to answer them all in a specific or general way with the links below.

As a general tack, however, to fully appreciate the rights and responsibilities of men and women in Islam, I feel the best way is to read the biography of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace). In his life, we see polygyny, concubinage, divorce, and patriarchy all acted out in a contextualized, kind, merciful humane way, far detached from any inorganic and inhumane practices of male chauvinism and abuse of women.

The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) loved women emotionally, spiritually and physically, and showed us the best and most kind and respectful way to express this love. This is the message Islam teaches us and the standard set for men and women alike.

Please see these answers, and feel free to ask more questions if these have left any issues unresolved.
