Should I Sell a Plot of Land to Person whom I Suspect to be Laundering Money?

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Darul Iftaa Jordan
I want to sell a plot of land to a foreigner and I have doubts that he wants to buy it to launder money. Is it permissible for me to sell it to him or not? If it is, then is it permissible that I sell it to him for a price above that of the market?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

If this foreigner is a Muslim and is buying that plot of land for himself, not for a non-Muslim person, then it is permissible to sell that land to him for the price that you have agreed on. However, if you have doubts that he had earned that money unlawfully, then it is more prudent not to sell it to him. As for the ruling of Sharia on this matter, it depends on what you think of that person`s intentions. And Allah the Almighty knows best.
