Ameen and ta’awwudh

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question:

Assalamualaiykum Respected Shaykh. When we read Surah Fatihah whilst reciting the Quran do we have to say Ameen at the end of the Surah and after saying Ameen when starting Surah Baqarah do we have to read Ta’awwuz or just Tasmiyyah?

Jazak Allah Khair

Answer:

Saying Ameen upon completing Surah Fatiha is a sunnah. Ameen means ‘O Allah please accept our dua’

During the salah the hanafees and malikees say it is more desirable to say it silently, whereas the shafiees and hanbalees say it is more preferable to say it with a bit of voice.

When you are continuing a recitation, the first ta’awwuz is enough. Basmala is sufficient to carry on with Surah baqarah. Wallahu a’alam.
