Haraam food, 40 days of dua rejected?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question

If you eat something haraam without the intention, for 40 days, will your duas get accepted?

Answer

If you tried your best to find out if it was halal and found nothing wrong with it, but it later turned out to be haram, then insha-Allah you will not be called to account for this.  If you did so out of carelessness, without checking whether it was halal, then this was wrong.  You must remember that even one haram morsel has an effect, let alone forty days.
