Becoming a male nurse

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Assalaamualaykum,

Mufti saheb, Im sorry to take up You’re time, I hope I can be advised on if studying nursing and working as a nurse would be okay as a job .I’m a male and it’s for myself, obviously I have a beard and am a man so wondered would nursing not be suitable for me as in would I be a bad example to others if I’m making sense.I am happy Alhamdulillah that I was able to email Mufti saheb and hope health and all is well.

We should get a job in which our honour and dignity is preserved.
“It does not befit a person that he degrades himself”

In light of this Hadith I would advise you to take up some other profession, especially since you have a masnoon beard as well.

By no means do I say it’s a haram profession.

wasalaam
