Before I asked the question about the copy right but the ans. I did not understand so I called today and some mentioned repeat the question. I bought the set Mihaj-ul-Muslim of Makki sahab and on the set and each cassette they write about the copy right. I have other set too and each of the set hace written about the copy right. These set are very expensive in chicago islamic store. My question is that I need the permission of the company to make copy and give to the friend to listen when he finished so give tot other just for (Fesabilillah). Please let me know in detail.
The reality of the issue is not that you have some cassettes of makki saab and you like to distribute after dubbing them to enable access for many people to his work. The real question is that this is related to many things such as the law. The law includes the directives of the government and one cannot be allowed to break those laws. If a government has allotted someone rights to secure his/her intellectual property then one should not interfere with those rights. As a matter of fact, knowledge should not be concealed, and however much a person can do to propagate it, one should try. But if someone has specialized in some field and secured the rights of his/her expertise then we cannot issue a fatwa against the rule of the law. So, we choose to remain quiet in this matter. Try to understand and also, it’s possible that the cassette belonging to whomever may give you permission to distribute it. Sometimes it happens that they don’t belong to anyone and yet those people object to it. So, if you are asking about some specific cassettes then you should talk to the party of the transaction if he allows it then you can distribute the copy of the tapes. Otherwise, you should try to find some other way of distributing those tapes to the people.
