Is Ayurvedic medicine haram?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org

Assalamualaikum,

I recently consulted an Ayurvedic practioner of medicine to improve my health. They ask you questions and assign you  a dosha. Then, you are given recommendations based on your body composition and dosha balance. Is this haram ? May I continue to eat foods that are a part of my dosha, continue to engage in practices that pertain to Ayurveda, or use its terminology? Ayurveda itself has roots in Hinduism and Buddhism.

الجواب وباللہ التوفیق

Exercise in itself is an important and beneficial activity and one should be particular about it for the betterment of health, however, find about the terms by providing the detail about them. The medicines can be used if impure or Haram ingredients are not included. If you have any doubt then you should use some other alternative mode of treatment.
