Artificial Insemination

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org

Salam,

I have a question that in current world there is a lot of problem of infertility. Test tube baby is devised by doctors who do same technique but out of the uterus and then place the fertilized ovum in uterus. There is no such thing I think which is opposing Islam or in Islam if its forbidden that treatment can not be done.

However question is that if a male has no sperm, can they borrow some one else sperm for this purpose or this is not allowed?

الجواب وبالله التوفيق

Trying to conceive a child through this unnatural method is considered impermissible and haram. Secondly, in using such a method it will be imperative that many other prohibited and haram actions be performed.

Therefore striving to conceive a child through this method will be impermissible and haram.
