Do Blood-Stained Clothes Dirty Others When Washed?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org
Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

If blood stained clothing was put into a washing machine and washed with other clothes, are all the clothes now impure?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

The blood stained clothes, as well as the other clothing that was washed in the washing machine, are pure. [Ibn ‘Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]

Note that blood stains which are difficult to remove are excused. [Ibid.]

One cycle in the washing machine is sufficient to remove the essence of visible impurities and to purify invisible impurities to the extent that one can be reasonably sure the impurity is gone. [Ibid.]

Lastly, note that the use of soap is not a condition.

Hope this helps

Allah knows best
