Is Testerone Treatmeant Permissible?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Question

Assalamu ‘Alaykum.

I am a man and have some kind of disease or genetic problem that physicians have not figured out as of now. I produce too much estrogen and have deficient testosterone. My physician and says I should use testosterone treatment to increase the amount in my body. Is this permissible?

Answer

Wa ‘alaykum assalam was rahmatullah was barakatuh.

I pray Allah gives you good health and wellbeing.

There is nothing intrinsically impermissible about the treatment you mentioned. It would be permissible to take. Even haram substances can be used for treatment if there is no halal alternative and doctors think they will benefit. (Ibn ‘Abidin, Radd al Muhtar)

Turn to Allah. Pray an istikhara. Repent from any sins there may be, and use the illness as a means to direct your focus to the Akhira, which never ends. That will be the best way of benefitting from the test.

May Allah grant you the best of both worlds.
