Did I Show Off When Talking About Feeling Peace In Mecca?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Question:

As Salaamu Alaykum.

When I was in Madina, I remember that I would like to pray Salah in an area where one could see the Green Dome, in an open space, also when in Makkah, I remember feeling happy when facing the Qibla when the black stone was directly in front of me and told this with happiness to my father and uncle afterward that I faced the black stone part when praying, Is there anything wrong that I have done?

Answer:

Wa ‘alaykum assalam wa rahmatullah wa baraktuh.

I pray you are well.

If it were to make them hear about your worship, this would have been a sin called sum’a (informing others about one’s worship). Otherwise, if it was just about the happiness you felt, it wasn’t a sin.

It’s best to keep the details of one’s worship private. It minimizes the complications in one’s worship and intentions.

May Allah grant you the best of both worlds.
