Taking a Bath

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Question: Must one wash impurities from their child before placing them in the bathtub?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

It is not necessary that one washes their child before putting them into the bathtub. This is because, regarding impurity that is visible, it is sufficient that the impurity is removed, even with one washing. This also applies if the one washing is done in a single vessel (ijana) [Ibn ‘Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar].

Practically, it is indeed best to wash the child before putting them into the tub out of consideration for the difference of opinion and the absence of undue hardship in doing so.

Hope this helps
