Lead Being Poured into the Eyes of Someone Who Looks at an Unrelated Woman: What Is the Soundness of This Hadith?

Question: Assalam alaikum,

I came across a Hadith which talked about lead being poured into the eyes of someone who looks at a non mahram. What is the source and grading of this hadith?

Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

The report you mention is found in some books, yet it doesn’t seem to have a narrator or sound grading. Ibn Hajar al-`Asqalani in his al-Diraya fi Takhrij Ahadith al-Hidaya says that he didn’t find it.

However, the meaning nonetheless, that it is a crime against Allah and His Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace), is sound. Hence why Ibn Hajar al-Haytami recorded looking lustfully at an unrelated woman as an enormity. The eyes fornicate as mentioned by the Holy Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace).

And Allah alone gives success.

wassalam,
