Praying at the Wrong Time

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

If with change to daylight saving timing, and with new timing I  thought that for example it is time for Zuhr prayer, meaning I  prayed Zuhr prayer one hour early thinking it is the correct time. is my prayer correct? or do I have to repeat the prayer? and how if already it is Asr time?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam,

A condition for the validity of the prayer is that:

(a) the time have actually come in;

(b) one believes it is in. [Nur al-Idah, Tanwir al-Absar]

If either of these two are not present, one’s prayer would not be valid. As such, you would have to makeup that prayer if you prayed before the time. If you prayed Zuhr in Asr time, it would be a makeup (qada’).

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
