I have come across a group of people that are with out regard saying that a modern day scholar (Habib Ali of Tarim) looks like Rasulullahi SallAllhau alahie wa salam in his physical appearance, they are attributing it to him very adimantly, what is your opinion about this, please respond I am confused?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate. May His abundant blessing and most perfect of peace be on His Beloved Prophet, the best of creation, and his family, companions and followers.

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

We objectively know how the Beloved of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) looked, through the descriptions of his noble person in the works of hadith, particularly those on shama’il (description of the person, character, and conduct of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace)).

As to whether Habib Ali (may Allah preserve him) looks like that, it is a matter of judgment. It would not be surprising, as he is a righteous scholar who avidly follows the sunna of his great grandfather, the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace), whom he is directly descended from, outwardly and inwardly.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
