What’s the Hanafi fiqh ruling on wearing cap while praying? I find it distressing that many Muslims (including sunnis) who prefer saying namaz without a skull cap even though there are many spare caps in the masjids. I vaguely remember that as per Hanafi school offering namaz without a cap is ”makruh”. Please verify the correct ruling.

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
It is recommended to cover one’s head in prayer, and somewhat disliked (makruh tanzihan) not so do so without excuse. However, not covering one’s head is not per se sinful or blameworthy.
