Women and Friday Prayer RE: Zuhr and Juma

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Is Juma prayer fard for women who don’t go to the masjid? Is it fard for men who are not able to get to a masjid / jamaat? The question / answer that was just posted confused me. What is the relationship between juma and duhr prayers?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

Women are not legally obligated to perform Friday prayer—which can only be performed in congregation. If they do, it counts for the obligatory prayer of the time. Otherwise, the default is that they pray Zuhr.
